Help with the cost

  • KidSport Manitoba: Up to $300 per child per year. Registration fees only; not equipment, travel, tournaments or camps. Income-tested; applications due the 15th of each month.
  • Canadian Tire Jumpstart: Up to $300 per child per year. Registration, equipment or transportation, at the local chapter's discretion. Income-tested (LICO).
  • NHL/NHLPA First Shift: $299 all-in for new players. Head-to-toe Bauer equipment, six on-ice sessions and insurance. A low-cost first season for children new to hockey, not a grant.

Many associations also offer payment plans and gear lending; ask before you register.

How this is worked out

Registration, extras and travel come from PuckReady's working ranges by level and region, checked against published association fees and the Hockey Manitoba fee sheet. Equipment is a full new set by age, halved for used gear and multiplied for goalies. U7 and U9 house registration is set 15% below the U11-plus range because those divisions play half-ice. Spring hockey uses the per-player prices providers list on PuckReady. These are ranges, not quotes; your association's own fee sheet wins.
